Open Postdoc - position Immune regulation of the intestinal barrier in IBD

The research group of Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Christoph Becker, Department of Medicine 1 offers a Postdoctoral position to a talented and enthusiastic scientist in an open and creative research environment.

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist in the field of biomedicine. The successful Postdoc candidate should hold a PhD degree in medical, pharmaceutical or biomedical sciences or related. Further on, the candidate should have good knowledge in immunology with practical experience in basic cell and molecular biology techniques. Recent practice of in vivo experiments in mice are an advantage.

The Postdoctoral fellow will deal with projects regarding cytokine regulation in different models of inflammatory bowel disease and with immune regulation of the intestinal barrier at the frontline to the gut microbiota. Our lab provides a wide range of methods, including different disease models, IHC, microscopy, RNASeq, qPCR, ELISA, etc.

Open PhD position - Immune regulation of the intestinal barrier in IBD

The DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre „Immune-Epithelial Communication in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases“ offers a PhD position to a talented and enthusiastic researcher holding a relevant Master’s degree. The joint research initiative between Erlangen, Berlin, Innsbruck and Kiel brings together experts from different IBD research fields, basic, translational clinical and computational research of Immune Regulation. Thus, the intense cooperation with the affiliated universities provides a vivid scientific environment throughout your PhD.

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student in the field of biomedicine. The successful PhD candidate should have a solid background both in biomedicine as well as in microbiology and immunology. Relevant experience in experimental disease models are an advantage.

The PhD student will deal with questions about cytokine regulation in different IBD disease models and its impact on the regulation of the intestinal barrier. Our lab provides a wide range of methods, including different murine models, IHC, microscopy, RNASeq, qPCR and ELISA.

During your doctorate you will have the opportunity to participate in a three-year structured educational program (Graduate School) to promote cross-frontier thinking and scientific networking.

The successful PhD candidate should have a solid background both in biomedicine as well as in math, computer science. Relevant programming skills are an advantage.

The PhD student will support the Collaborative Research Centre in developing and applying new methods for integrative data analysis of omic datasets from experimental research in order to better understand the molecular basis of the complex disease IBD.
